Dear Fellow Comrades,

Post Commander Ben Anderson, Betty and I had a great time at the VFW Homecoming Ceremony for VFW 2009-2010 National Commander Tommy “T” Tradewell held in Milwaukee 10-13 September. We all had a great time and more than enough food to eat. This is a once in a lifetime events and I am happy we were able to attend. There were over 350 VFW Members in attendance from around the US and 50 members from Wisconsin.

We will also be attending the State Commander’s Twiggy Johnson’ Homecoming in Mishicot, Wisconsin on 10-11 October. They have a winery tour scheduled for the 10th and Betty and I are both looking forward to the tour.

We had a guest at our September meeting, 9th District Commander Merlin Kosmosky attend our meeting and completed our post inspection for the year. It was great to have Merlin in attendance and he stated we passed the yearly inspection.

The information for Voice of Democracy and Patriot Pen entries have been delivered to the schools and we should be getting our entries back to the post in November. If any member is interested in helping with the judging, please let me know.

I continue to work on a list of members who have special skills and would like to be available to help Deployed NGU families if the need would arise. (Plumbing, electrical, auto repairs, etc) Please let me know if you are willing to assist. I now have two electricians who have volunteered. We sure could use some other help.

October 2009 Scuttlebutt

Hi Comrades,

We had another short meeting this month as our Adjutant was taking care of other veterans’ business. He promised he would be at our next monthly meeting.

Our Fundraiser of chicken and corn turned out fairly well considering we held it on Labor Day Weekend. We did make some profit so I guess we can’t complain. There were many other activities going on around the area the kept many people away. A big thanks goes to both Bill Dent for taking charge and getting the chicken and corn and Bob Karpenske for getting the potato salad and cake. Also thank you to all the members that assisted during this event.

The Fall Conference will be held in Appleton, WI on 08-10 October. The Service Officer Training will be held on the 08th and will be attended by Tom Johnson. The next two days are training for Adjutants and Commanders with workshops on Social Security, TRICARE, and CHAMPVA to name a few. Currently John Fredrickson, Lenny Shier, Terry McNitt and I are planning on attending. If any member has any questions that they need answers to, please contact our adjutant, he will try and get an answer for you. We will be discussing the information obtained at the conference at our next meeting.

Our adjutant still has DAV Raffle Tickets to help raise funds for the DAV Transportation Program. If any member would like to purchase or sell some tickets please contact John Fredrickson at 234-8050. ALL members who have tickets checked out to them, they need to be turned into our adjutant before 07 October as they ALL must to be turned in at the Fall Conference.

If you know of any member who is sick, please contact our Chaplin Bill Dent so we can send a little sunshine their way.

Remember all our men and women serving all over the world to keep us safe. Say a big prayer for each and every one of them. May they all come home safe. God bless each and every one of you.
