MERRY CHRISTMAS

&

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Dear Fellow Comrades,

I have finally completed all my scheduled inspection for the year. I logged a little over 2100 miles and I had a lot of long days. It is a joy thou to visit all the other posts in the district and see what they have been doing. I am always amazed with the ideas and the way different post get involved in the community. I also enjoy the comradeship that I received as I visit the post. There is a great Veteran Community out there and a joy to visit with them.

9th District is still in the lead in the state for membership at 91.24%. I only hope we can keep it up and reach out 100% membership goal soon. Our Post 2204 now only needs 8 more members and we will be 100%. We still have several members who have not yet paid their 2009 dues. If you have not, remember, you will not be able to vote at our January meeting.

The 9th District Mid-Winter Conference is schedules for 24 January at Altoona Post 10405. We will need to know who all plans to attending at our next meeting. I will be driving down and will have some room. Lets have a good turnout from our post at this meeting.

The Rice Lake Christmas Parade is scheduled for 04 December. Larry Anderson has asked that all who can attend and participate to meet at the Veterans Center at 5:30PM. If you cannot make it at that time, meet at his house. The parade starts at 6:30PM

The Christmas Party for the Rice Lake National Guard Troops that was scheduled for 13 December will most likely be cancelled. The Guard Unit is now having a combined Christmas Party with New Richmond on the evening of 6th December. They will be drilling in Rice Lake on the 5th & the morning of 6th December and we will present them with the food baskets at that time.

At our November meeting, we decided we would have the VFW Christmas Party at our December meeting. Please bring a dish to pass. Social Hour 6-7 and we will eat at 7:00PM.

December 2008 Scuttlebutt

Hi Comrades,

We had a very good meeting this month and had a lot of items to discuss. It was a shorter than normal meeting as our adjutant was on the road this month inspecting Webster Chapter 66 in Spooner.

We did discuss the upcoming 4th District Spring Conference to be held in Rice Lake. The tentative date is 18 April. We will need as many members as possible to assist during this function. We will need door prizes and also decide what we are going to serve for the noon meal. We will be discussing this more at our December meeting. If you have any ideas, please attend our next meeting. We are always looking for new ideas.

As you all know the nation elected Obama as our new President & Commander-In-Chief who be taking over in January. If he holds true to his promises regarding veteran’s issues and our current military we should be ok. If not, I guess we will just have to keep pressure on Washington to get the benefits that we have all earned.

As the year comes to an end, I would like to wish all members a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2009. Remember, we do not hold meetings during January and February so our next meeting will be in March.

Remember all our men and women serving all over the world to keep us safe. Say a big prayer for each and every one of them. May they all come home safe. God bless each and every one of you.
