Dear Fellow Comrades,

First off, I want to thank all the members of VFW Post 2204, Ladies Auxiliary and other volunteers for making the Spring Conference a great success; Commander Anderson for hosting the conference; Tom Puig for keeping all the registration and meal counts up to date; Duane Wittman for obtaining door prizes, Denny & Melody Leuthner for coordinating the meals with the Moose Club, Sam Samshal for getting the Veterans Center ready; Lloyd Meinen for filling in as District Chaplin; Herb Zimmer for his assistance; Carol Rudesill for bartending and Larry Anderson & crew for providing the Color Guard for the Memorial Service. A special thanks goes to my wife Betty for all her assistance. Thank you for all your hard work.  It reflects great credit on our Post!!!

At the District meeting, we held election of District Officers for 2008-2009. I was re-elected to the office of District Commander for one more year. It looks like I will be on the road again this fall holding post inspections and other meetings though out the state.

We did hold elections at our April meeting.  Commander Ben (WE) Anderson was elected as our commander for one more year. The rest of the officer stayed pretty much the same. We will be holding the installation of officers at our May meeting.

Don’t forget about our Poppy Drive on 10 May. All members who can assist with this years drive are to meet at the Veterans Center at 9:30AM. The more members assisting, the more areas we will be able to cover.

The VFW Department Convention will be held 25-28 June in Milwaukee. Currently Ben Anderson, Tom Puig and I will all be attending. It should be a great convention and a lot of new information provided.

Youth Essay winners from our post are; 1st place Garrison Strand, 2nd place Lindsay VonFeldt and 3rd place is Marissa Gomez. Commander Anderson and I will be presenting our winners with plaques and checks sometime around the end of May. The Middle Schools has not yet set a date for their awards night. If anyone is interested in attending the event, please let me know and I will call you once I have a firm date.

**** If you know of any member who is sick or could use some sunshine, please contact Ted Kuchera at 434-3123.

Hi Comrades,

At our first meeting in March we had 17 members present. Would you believe, we did it again this month with 17 members. We also had a couple of new members attending who plan on transferring in from other chapters. Thanks to all the members who attended. It was also great to see several of our newest members also in attendance. Our membership is continuing to grow. Hopefully several of the newer members will be able to assist during our various fundraisers, attend meetings and other project we will be working on during the year. Welcome Aboard to all our new members.

We had a great meeting and discussed several up coming events. The first item we discussed was who will be attending the upcoming 4th District Meeting on 26 April in Chippewa Falls. There will be 7 of us attending this year so our chapter should be well represented once again at the District Meeting.

We also discussed our annual Forget-Me-Not Drive scheduled for 03 May. All members who can assist this year are to meet at Hardies at 9:00AM. We will then split up into smaller groups to cover the Rice Lake area. This is our major fundraiser for the year so I ask all members who can make it please come and assist.

We held nominations of officers for the upcoming year. It looks like the same members will once again be holding office. At our May meeting, we will once again open nomination and then hold elections. If you are interested in holding an office please attend our next meeting.

Remember all our men and women serving all over the world to keep us safe. Say a big prayer for each and every one of them. May they all come home safe. God bless each and every one of you.

Upcoming Events:

  • 03 May 08 - Forget-Me-Not Fundraiser
  • 12 May 08 - Monthly Meeting
  • 09 June 08 - Monthly Meeting
  • 12-14 Jun 08 - DAV State Convention (Appleton)

God Bless, Love Ya

Yours in Comradeship,

Ben (Walking Eagle) Anderson
